AIM’s Philosophical Background

AIM’s philosophies were founded based on the work of educational psychologist Dr. Benjamin Bloom. In 1956 Bloom helped lead a committee that created a “Taxonomy of Learning Domains” in order to “promote higher forms of thinking in education, such as analyzing and evaluating, rather than just remembering facts.” (www.nwlink.com/~donclark/hrd/bloom.html)

There were three domains of learning identified by the committee (Bloom, 1956):

  • Affective: growth in feelings or emotional areas (Attitude, Social or Self)

  • Cognitive: mental skills (Knowledge, Strategies, Problem Solving)

  • Psychomotor: manual or physical skills (Skills)

These three domains are more commonly referred as Attitude, Knowledge and Skill. It’s AIM’s goal as a sports training company to be educational and always help our clients develop improved Attitudes, Knowledge and Skills. If you take a look at the AIM Scorecard
